After a breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns, we broke down Low Camp, packed up our our tents and the rest of our gear and moved up to High Camp. We left at 3:45 PM and arrived at 9:35 PM.
Along the way we were treated to spectacular views of the Antarctic landscape under ideal weather conditions. Just like yesterday, we climbed the very tough fixed lines and then roped up and moved along the glacier for the last hour-and-a-half into high camp.
We setup our tents and got settled in. We recovered all our lost calories with some tomato soup, tasty hamburgers, followed by ravioli pasta with tomato sauce and parmesan cheese.
It is now nearly 3:00 AM and I’m off to bed. Now that the sun is hiding behind the mountain, the temperature inside my tent is quickly dropping into negative digits. Tomorrow is rest day followed by Summit day.
