It’s getting exciting as we’re getting closer and closer to our destination. We are heading to Camp 5 and are two days away from Base Camp. We quickly packed up Camp 4 and started down a long and winding valley which we then climbed up the other side to beautiful clear views of the Jaya Mountain Range.
The only remaining constants are the Mud and Rain but it really wasn’t as bad as the previous days. Today was the easiest day of our expedition and despite the mud, the terrain wasn’t as hard and dangerous as what we previously encountered.
We climbed up in altitude encountering a few ridges and made our way through some meadows and rivers before we made it to Camp 5 in about 7 hours. We left at 9 AM and arrived 4 PM.
Tomorrow we have a very long and tough day. We have to climb up to New Zealand Pass at 15,000 ft and then descend back into Carstensz Base Camp at 13,000 ft.
